Years of congressional inaction and paralysis on immigration reform have created an untenable situation that, depending on which �side of the fence� one sits on the Arizona immigration law debate, has either forced the Arizona legislature to take necessary action or permitted overzealous lawmakers to trump federal authority. While travelling on Advance Parole, which job title should I mention to the immigration officer. The Job Titile is different on H1-B and Permanent Residency application. Thanks.

I am guessing it should be OK. if at all it needs redirection they will do it internally. besides you can check in your online case status about the RFE or call NSC if you need.

Hi Folks,
My friend's 485 is pending with CIS and he is working on EAD. He currently does not hold any other visa. In fact his last H1 expired more than a year ago. We recently tried to renew his EAD online on USCIS website. However, we were stumped by a question which asks the applicant about his/her current immigration status in US. It was a drop down box and had many options like H1, L1 etc, but there was no option for somebody like him whose current status is just "AOS pending".
How do we get around this? Do you think it is best to apply on paper?

This shouldn't be a problem provided that she has the AP when she is leaving. AOS applicants don't need to be in the US while the AOS is pending, except to go to fingerprint appointments, interviews, etc. They must be in the US when the AOS is filed, and need to be careful to always have AP before leaving, but a 3-month gap should not be a problem.

I was on H1.. but i quit my job and i am currently enrolled as a Full time student.
I need to go to Mexico as part of my Study program....
I have received the change of status from USCIS..but i need to get my passport stamped..
I have not been successful in getting an appointment in Canada....
>> Can i go to mexico and get the visa stamped during my stay there..is it risky???
>> i cam here on F1-h1-now back to F1.... do i have to go to my country of origin to get my visa stamped.

Is the email printout of 140 approval enough to attach to 485 app.
I have not received the printed notice and do not want to wait for it.
I want to go ahead with attaching approved email of 140.
Is it ok ?

The Congressional Record, for instance, is printed daily and captures every debate, vote, parliamentary maneuver, tribute to a fife-and-drum corps, post office naming, and utterance by members on the floor of the House and the Senate. It averages 250 pages.
Ordinarily, the legislative process is paper-intensive. From the moment a bill is introduced by a member of Congress to its signature on parchment paper by the president, the printing office must print 10 different documents related to that piece of legislation, often doing the work overnight.
The agency is producing 3 million or 4 million pages a week for Congress from its 1.5 million-square-foot North Capitol Street headquarters, the largest information-processing, printing and distribution facility in the world. Tapella could not say how that compares with the workload under the last Congress.
All the talk of paper led some members of the panel to question why the printing office, which was created in 1813 when printing was a central tool in communication, hasn't gone all-electronic.
"Are you completely transitioning to a digital system as some point?" the subcommittee chairman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.), asked during a hearing.
The printing office is in the middle of a $29 million technological shift that will allow it to store and maintain all federal documents electronically, Tapella said. About 92 percent of everything it publishes now is available in an electronic format, said Michael L. Wash, the agency's chief technical officer. The agency produced its first online edition of the Congressional Record two weeks ago.
But Turri said the printing office will stick with paper until Congress directs it to do otherwise.
"It's kind of like the newspaper business," said Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn). "They know things are going electronic, but they know people are going to want to read their newspaper with their coffee."

I am currently on H1B with a temp status (B1) and in-between jobs. My partner is in the process of becoming a US citizen. He has had his Green Card for years and obtained it through his ex-spouse's job while they were still married. He has been divorced for about a year now and started the citizenship application process a couple of months ago. We are thinking of getting married after he gets his citizenship. My question is: does it matter if we get married before or after he obtains his citizenship? We heard rumors that a previous marriage might be a factor in whether I will be able to obtain a Green Card. Thank you very much in advance for your help!

My priority date is Jan 2006 in EB3 and I wanted to understand what happens after you file I-485. Is is all first come first after that or they will process 485based on priority date. What if I filed my 485 on july 1 and another person with an earlier priority date filed it after 6 months considering the priority dates are still current till then. Will mine be processed before the other guy.
Also, I was going to take a promotion in my company and file a new application in EB2 but with all dates being current now I am confused. I will still apply for 485 in Eb3 and get the benefits for EAD and AP but I am sure the final approval and getting of green card is going to take 5-6 years for jan 2006 eb3 dates.
My questions
Can I still change to Eb2 after filing a 485 in EB3?
Can I port the priority date from EB3 to Eb2 after eb3 140 is approved?

Hello gurus..
I filed for my H4 extn on Jan 16th(Cal Serv Centre)..I dont think so I can get the H4 approval extn by April 1st... other than the option of getting it done in premium processing ... can I file for my H1 in April before my H4 approval comes..?
All in all I will need atleast 5k for my H1 and in case if I have to get my H4extn premium processed..

Online EAD status says Card production ordered. Not received card yet. Is there any memo/ lawyer opinion that says it is OK to work that as a basis for employment eligibility?
